Staying Positive While Working From Home
Since the global spread of coronavirus and lock down protocol in almost every country, people have been forced to stay at home. In some establishments, employees have had to work from home for months now.
Working from Home seems to have come to stay and is referred to as the new normal for many. If you are new to working from home, there might be a bit of struggle for you creating balance between staying productive at work and your personal life.
Here are some tips that will help you be more productive while working from home:
1. Have regular work hours:
You need to set a schedule for work and stick to it. This schedule will help you know when to work and when to close work for the day. Work life balance is essential, as simple as having enough time for sleep daily will help you to be more effective.
2. Create a morning routine:
You need to plan how to start your day. Putting yourself in the work mood will help you be a lot more productive. What morning routine will help indicate you are about to get work done? It might be taking a shower early and getting dressed, exercise, have breakfast etc. Find out what works for you and stick to it.
3. Set break times:
If you are someone who works mostly from the computer, you might have to create some time to stay away from the screens. There is a 20-20-20 rule that can help you. Take a 20 second break to view 20 feet away every 20 minutes. You could develop a computer vision syndrome which includes eye strain, headaches, blurred vision etc.
4. Set Ground Rules with people around you:
While you work from home, you will need to inform people around you about your work schedule. You need to set clear rules so they know what and when to come around you. You need to make them realise that the work you are doing at a particular period of the day is what pays the bill so they should respect that. This is not to shun people from you but so you give your best during your work hours.
5. Look out for trainings to attend:
There are several webinars that can be of immense benefits to you, aways be on the look out for them. Several universities have made some of their courses accessible to the public. Some online learning platforms like Udemy and Coursera have made some of their courses free or highly discounted as well.
6. Stay positive:
Staying positive all day online helps you in great measure. Sometimes while trying to communicate with your co-workers or clients online, there is always the challenge of them not fully understanding what you are communicating so they send some negative emotions that you might want to retaliate with. But negative energy does more harm to you than good. So instead of passing on the negative emotions, find a better way to communicate and maintain your positive energy all day long.
If you put to practice these 6 tips mentioned above, you are sure to have your productivity level up all week with your colleagues at work asking you how you are doing it.
